Contacts
  • Jack -- Sir. Seems to have his act together, which is always a huge relief.
  • Alsatia -- Huh, so I have a roommate, at least until the end of the semester. Seems nice, a little goofy, with AMAZING HAIR. Seriously, that hair is... there are no words.
  • Meadow -- What is it with the amazing hair around here? Is it something in the water? And she owns a CANDY SHOP. Very dangerous.

RP Hooks
  • New in Town: Just moved here from New York.
  • Fame: She had some success as a model a few years back, she might be recognized from a print ad or billboard.
  • Student: Pursuing a Master's degree in Economics. She spends a lot of time hanging around campus, mostly with her face buried in her laptop.
  • Graduate Assistantship: She's teaching freshman-level Math 3C: Precalculus, so other students might know her as an instructor.
  • Shady Past: She was a bit of a mafia princess back home; her father was The Man To Know when you needed your cash flow scrubbed.

Disclaimer
  • Frequently interrupted by RL: My RL is hectic, so I'm only able to get online a little here and there. And as much as I try to avoid it, I may need to log off at inopportune times. I appreciate your understanding.
  • Open to the Darkness in the WoD: Though Amalia is set at Risk 0, I'll usually agree to permanent or semi-permanent changes to the character if the drama is awesome and appropriate. Essentially I just don't want to "pre-consent" to Random Acts of Death and/or Dismemberment; extended imprisonment, enslavement, or mind control; and so on. Basically, I care too much about this character to throw her away or otherwise not be able to RP her.

Background
  • Streetwise Dot-filled.pngDot-filled.pngDot-filled.pngDot-filled.pngDot.png or appropriate Contacts or background:
If you've got New Jersey/New York-area organized crime contacts, one of them might've let you know to keep an eye out for "Jack Welkin's kid"; rumor has it she moved here recently. Jack Welkin was an extremely successful 'entrepreneur' with his 'import/export' business, especially since he was willing to work with anyone for the right price. Remaining independent made him some enemies, but not limiting himself was extremely lucrative. Unfortunately, someone's patience finally wore thin when he did business with their competition, and a message was delivered when Amalia was nearly killed in a suspicious car crash; her mom wasn't so lucky. The hit had the opposite effect on Jack from what was intended: instead of backing down, his rage led him to be even less cautious with his associations, and two years later he got the message loud and clear when he finally got a bullet himself.

  • Streetwise Dot-filled.pngDot-filled.pngDot-filled.pngDot-filled.pngDot-filled.png or specifically appropriate Contacts or background:
Despite his attempts to shelter her, Amalia wasn't entirely clueless about her dad's source of wealth, and after he was killed she knew exactly what she had to do: consolidate what she could and get the hell out of town. Her father's death created a bit of a vacuum -- he did provide a valuable service, after all -- and as one group took retribution against his killers, and their allies took retribution against them, and so on... she got in touch with various 'uncles' who helped her minimize herself as a target. She divested herself of most of her inheritance, redistributed the wealth amongst her father's allies and various legitimate interests, and booked a one-way flight to the opposite end of the country. So far she's continued to lay low, and nobody knows if she's going to stay that way, or if she's going to start putting those skills to use at some point.
