Twas on a lofty vase's side,
Where China's gayest art had dyed
The azure flowers that blow,
Demurest of the tabby kind,
The pensive Selima, reclined,
Gazed on the lake below.
Her conscious tail her joy declared;
The fair round face, the snowy beard,
The velvet of her paws,
Her coat, that with the tortoise vies,
Her ears of jet, and emerald eyes,
She saw; and purred applause.
Still had she gazed; but 'midst the tide
Two angel forms were seen to glide,
The genii of the stream:
Their scaly armour's Tyrian hue
Through richest purple to the view
Betrayed a golden gleam.
The hapless nymph with wonder saw:
A whisker first, and then a claw,
With many an ardent wish,
She stretched, in vain, to reach the prize.
What female heart can gold despise?
What cat's averse to fish?
Presumptuous maid! with looks intent
Again she stretched, again she bent,
Nor knew the gulf between:
(Malignant Fate sat by, and smiled)
The slippery verge her feet beguiled,
She tumbled headlong in.
From hence, ye beauties undeceived,
Know, one false step is ne'er retrieved,
And be with caution bold.
Not all that tempts your wand'ring eyes
And heedless hearts is lawful prize;
Nor all that glisters, gold.

... times three. She's better than the average bystander at noticing Weird Shit when it wanders by; she can read auras and spot shiny magic effects in progress and whatnot.

... there are people, and then there are the people who know those people. For those who do not have the time, aptitude, or inclination to roll up their sleeves and network, there's Eden. While fast on her way to meriting the more appropriate title of Fixer, she's already gathered up quite the collection of personnel resources.

Law and Order

... or whatever the opposite of that is. Eden is a rather accomplished intrusion specialist and fair forger: she's always looking for connections that are specifically criminal in nature. Just ask for Tenebrae.

That Grey Area

... as a firm adherent to the Night court, she's a little wishy-washy on that whole Good/Bad thing. While the average Gaian might be inclined to go all fuzzy blender on your bad self, Eden is pretty open minded.

The Sideshow

... though not an employee of the place, she is a disturbingly frequent visitor. It likely has something to do with her close relationship with the owners, though her favorite seat in the house is the owner's table.

... curiosity may eventually kill the cat. She likes secrets of all kinds more than almost anything in the whole world. Big secrets. Harmless little secrets. Dark secrets. Silly secrets. But it stops being a secret if you share it with too many people, right?

Alala Zephyr Flower. If in your fear you would seek only love's peace and love's pleasure, then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love's threshing-floor into the seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all of your laughter, and weep, but not all of your tears. Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself. Love possesses not nor would it be possessed; for love is sufficient unto love.
Dyson Belladonna. And let there be no purpose in friendship save the deepening of the spirit. For love that seeks aught but the disclosure of its own mystery is not love but a net cast forth: and only the unprofitable is caught. And let your best be for your friend. If he must know the ebb of your tide, let him know its flood also. For what is your friend that you should seek him with hours to kill?
Khaldun Forget-me-not. When love beckons to you follow him, though his ways are hard and steep. And when his wings enfold you yield to him, though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you. And when he speaks to you believe in him, though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden. For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning. Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun, so shall he descend to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth.
Xipach Totek Hemlock. The teacher who walks in the shadow of the temple, among his followers, gives not of his wisdom but rather of his faith and his lovingness. If he is indeed wise he does not bid you enter the house of wisdom, but rather leads you to the threshold of your own mind.

Important Details

Disconcerting : Elizabeth creeps people out. It's not what she says or what she looks like, it's just ... her. People don't handle her presence well, and animals are skittish around her. Her actions may put them at ease or might make things worse, but that nagging eeriness never fades.
Enchanting Voice : The creep factor is balanced out by the smoke and velvet of her voice. Or maybe that makes it worse.
